Welcome to Alpha Centuri!
Please read the following “rules and regs” from your moderators. If you have questions or concerns, please send one of us a message.
1) As this is a writing forum, the goal is to encourage and support one another in our writing, and keep everyone's productivity up. When commenting on another writer’s work, be positive and supportive, even if what they are writing is not your usual cup of tea. Do not post destructive criticism of someone's work, attempts to destroy someone's confidence, veiled insults, dismissive or overly critical commentary, or comments that something is not very good - if you think something is not very good, post this in a constructive, supportive way, or don’t post at all. Find a way to say something to help to improve it! If someone wants constructive criticism they are welcome to ask for it, so when you comment on excerpts, be aware of what type of comments the contributor wants, and the level of edit the current excerpt is at. If the poster asks for critique, contribute constructively and critique as requested.
2) Please note that this community has under-aged members and should be safe to visit for members aged at least 14 and up. Any 18+ material should be posted only in the private forums, and only after making sure (to the best of your abilities) that no under-aged members have access to it.
3) Posting of material, or discussions in chat about any of the following topics will results in you being banned: adult sex with minors, hate crimes, excessive violence, etc. Exceptions to the posting rule for specific literary purposes may be made at our discretion on a case-by-case basis; please message a moderator to find out if what you want to post is allowable.
4) Do not make personal attacks on people on any grounds, including but not limited to race, religion, sexual orientation, gender or gender presentation, politics, or country of origin. Also, be aware that playfulness/jokes translate badly without visual cues, especially in a multi-lingual forum, and do what you can to clear up hurtful misunderstandings. If you’re not sure if what you want to say is acceptable, just don’t say it.
5) Try to keep a good spirit. If you are having a bad day, try not to bring it with you into the forum/chat.
6) In chat, allow the discussion to flow, try not to spam the chat, and let everyone have their say. Also, please keep the chatrooms PG-14 at least.
7) Be courteous to new members and try to involve them in chat if they show up.
8) Be nice to one another. Remember that a real person is on the other side of that screen name, and behave accordingly.
9) This is a private forum, and as such, the moderators will ban anyone who posts anything inappropriate, or acts in a way that we feel is unacceptable. As much as we enjoy freedom of speech and expression, we want this is also be a safe place for everyone and will not hesitate to remove anyone who disturbs the peace for the rest of us.
Thank you for your cooperation.
You may want to now quickly read this short guide to maintaining the format of your writing when posting it here as the proboards forum software strips out tabs and will leave your work all left aligned, which is probably not what you want.
